  • 1. How do I store and access files from my DiskGO Portable SSD using Windows?

    1) Connect the USB cable to the Portable SSD and plug the other end into an available USB port of the  computer

    2) The DiskGO Portable SSD will appear as a storage drive in “Computer” or “My Computer”   The  drive icon will appear with the volume name “DISKGO”

    3) Once your drive appears, you can then store and access files on it the same way you would on your computer’s main hard drive.  Copy and paste or drag and drop files directly to the drive

  • 2. How do I store and access files from my DiskGO Portable SSD using a Mac?

    1) Connect the USB cable to the Portable SSD and plug the other end into an available USB port of the  computer

    2) The DiskGO Portable SSD will appear as an external drive on the Mac OS desktop.  The drive icon  will appear with the volume name “DISKGO.”  See FAQ on formatting for Mac if your DiskGO hard drive is not recognized

    3) Once your drive appears, you can then store and access files on it the same way you would on your computer’s main hard drive.  Copy and paste or drag and drop files directly to the drive

  • 3. How do I format the DiskGO Portable SSD for use with a Mac?

    This device is preformatted using the NTFS file system and will initially only be recognized in Windows.  In order to use with a Mac, you will first need to format this device using Disk Utility.  WARNING:  All data will be erased.  Back up your files on a Windows computer before formatting.

    1)      Connect the DiskGO Portable SSD to the USB port of the Mac

    2)      Launch Disk Utility (Applications à Utilities)

    3)      Locate the DiskGO in the left pane of Disk Utility and select it

    4)      Click on the Erase tab at the top of the window

    5)      Next to Format, click the dropdown and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) if you intend to use this device ONLY in a Mac environment.  If you wish to use this device in both Windows and Mac environments, select MS-DOS (FAT).  NOTE:  If you choose to format as FAT, you will be unable to store individual files of 4GB or larger on the DiskGO Portable SSD.

    6)      Provide the drive an easily recognizable name

    7)      Click the Erase button and then again to confirm

  • 4. What operating systems support DiskGO Portable SSDs?

    Windows XP and higher or Mac OS X 10.4 and higher

  • 5. How do I utilize USB 3.0 speeds?

    In order to achieve the fastest possible transfer rates, connect the DiskGO Portable SSD to a USB 3.0 port of a computer.  This device will also work with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports, but will operate at slower speeds than capable.  Most USB 3.0 ports are blue in color and are also referred to as “SuperSpeed” or “SS.”

  • 6. I get an error when I disconnect my DiskGO Portable SSD from a Mac. Why does this happen?

    You must first “eject” the drive labeled “DISKGO” before logging out. The Mac will consider this a “safe removal” of the drive and will not produce the error when unplugging the DiskGO.

  • 7. In Windows, what is the proper way to disconnect my DiskGO Portable SSD after I have finished using?

    The DiskGO Portable SSD is supported by Windows XP and higher.  To disconnect, simply unplug the USB cable when the drive is not active (when the activity light is not blinking).
